A walk through the small stone houses of the villages on the Versant du Soleil
A footpath through the small stone houses in the villages on the Versant du Soleil, the midway stage for the herds of cows on their way up to the Alpine pastures. You will enjoy the traditional architecture of the houses with the first 2 floors made of stone and the top floor made just of wood used for drying the hay for the animals.

(**Section of dirt road and tarmac road)
Start from Valezan church.
1/ Go towards Notre Dames de Lourdes and the Adrets de Tarentaise "balcony" path. When you reach the tarmac road, follow it to Picolard.
2/ At Picolard, go up into the village and take the balcony path towards Couverclaz.
3/ Shortly after Couverclaz, when the road forks, go left onto the path leading up to the road (do not take the path that goes back down to Picolard).
4/ At the top of the path, take the road to the left. Quite a lot of this section is on a dirt road.
5/ At the next hairpin bend, go straight on (do not go uphill).
6/ At the bend in the road, take the road going up (on the right) towards Les Ravines, then take the path going downhill on the left towards La Lance.
7/ At La Lance, take the GR5 path back down towards Valezan.
