What to do at the moment in La Plagne?
We tell you everything! Everything we know... in any case. Following the government announcements of 20 January, the ski lifts will remain closed for the February holidays. We are waiting for new instructions for the rest of the season.
Concretely, what can we do (or not do)? Here is a short summary to see (a little) more clearly :-)
When is the resort opening?
Everyone who works in La Plagne (except those who work on the lifts, which will not be opening) are be delighted to welcome you since Saturday, December 19th. The Tourist Office is open at all our sites.
When is the ski area opening?
You have probably understood that you won’t be able to go skiing just yet...Following government announcements on 20 January, the ski lifts will remain closed for the February holidays. We are waiting for new instructions for the rest of the season.
Is it a good idea to go on holiday to the mountains ?
Why would it not be a good idea?! Ok, we are quite far from the big towns and cities, but we are fully aware of the current situation and we have just one main consideration in mind: how to share our wide-open spaces quite safely.
Coming on a mountain holiday does not mean forgetting the health measures…far from it. We are constantly thinking of all the gestures that will keep you healthy, without compromising your beloved winter sports holiday and we are putting in place the measures recommended by the government, just like we did for the summer season.
According to order n°P073-2020-0290, the wearing of masks is mandatory everywhere in Savoie, indoors and outdoors. In valleys such as All Masks in La Plagne at altitude, in Montchavin les Coches as well as in Montalbert or Champagny en Vanoise, please respect this obligation.
Where can I stay?
-The easiest solution is to book via our travel agency: La Plagne Resort or through one of the resort’s real estate agencies.
-Our staff are happy to offer you any information you need on +33 (0)4 79 09 79 79 or by email to info@laplagneresort.com
All our accomodation
Where and how can we eat out ?
In the land of the raclette, this is a subject that is very close to our hearts! Like everywhere in France, the bars and restaurants won’t be opening before March. However, many of the restaurants will be proposing takeaway food. The best thing to do is to go to the Tourist Office when you arrive and our staff (who are all real foodies) will be able to offer suggestions.
However, you will just have to get used to the idea that you will have to enjoy your fondue in your accommodation! Click here to see the places to go for your cheese and a fondue set: nos commerçants passionnés.
What other shops will be open ?
The good news is that the bakeries, chemists and other shops are allowed to open and our lovely boutiques are full of great gift ideas. And, of course, that means you will be supporting local trade 😊
All our teams are currently mobilised to update the information on which of our shops are open or closed : retailers and services.
What outdoor activities are allowed?
A very good question and one that many of you are asking. There’s nothing like a little list to clarify the situation! We are, of course, updating the list as we get further confirmations.

Will there be entertainment?
What a question! You can see all the entertainment planned in the different vilages here.
Where can we get information when we arrive?
That’s not a problem, since all our Tourist Offices are open since December 19th. Our brilliant staff will be delighted to welcome you and answer all your questions. And, before you get here, there are several different methods of contacting them:
-by phone, on (+33) 4 79 09 02 01
-by email to info@la-plagne.com
-on our website, via a live chat with our staff (on any page, you can just click on "Une question?")
-on our website again, you can book a video appointment with one of our resort specialists
What about transport and car parks?
First and foremost, let us reassure you that you will have no problems getting around! There is a free bus service running between the altitude sites, with a timetable that complies with curfew obligations. The lift links will be closed (since yes, they are part of the ski area) and replaced by a bus service. This includes the Télébus in Plagne Villages, the Télémétro in Plagne Aime 2000, the Roche de Mio gondola which normally runs between Plagne Bellecôte and Belle Plagne, and the Télébufette between Montchavin and Les Coches.
Our tip: the Mov'in La Plagne application which allows you to follow your shuttle in altitude and in Montchavin les Coches in real time. Downloadable from the Play Store or the Apple Store.
The covered carparks will be accessible and paying but the outdoor parking (on the road) will be free (it is Christmas after all!).
Will there be anyone to look after the children?
Some of the children’s ski gardens are open. See ski schools to book.
The day care centres in Plagne Centre and Montchavin - Les Coches can take your little ones, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, remember to book!
The day care centres in Belle Plagne and the leisure centres remain closed.
Find all the information for your family here.
What health measures will be in place in the resort?
To see the health measures in place in the resort, please see our page La Plagne is taking care of you, which is regularly updated.
