The Diables Bleus Association & La Plagne Montchavin-Les Coches Tourist Office are organizing their "Les Diables Bleus" ski touring event on the former training route of the 7th Battalion of Alpine Chasseurs (Les Diables Bleus).
The tests :
There are three types of test to choose from, and you can only register for one of them. You must specify on the registration form which one you wish to enter:
- SAINT JACQUES: 1,300 metres of ascent and descent, accessible to men over 20 and women over 23.
Ascent => From the top of the Télébufette gondola to the summit of the Crête de la Tête des Arpettes, Col du Seuchet, Sommet du St Jacques, Col de l'Arpette. Rephoquage to Dos Rond.
Descent => From the Dos Rond summit to the top of the Télébufette gondola. Off-piste descent on marked itinerary.
- ARPETTE: 1,000 m vertical drop, accessible to over-16s.
Ascent => From the top of the Télébufette gondola to the summit of the Crête de la Tête des Arpettes. Rephoetize to climb Dos Rond.
Descent => From the summit of Dos Rond to the top of the Télébufette gondola. Off-piste descent on marked itinerary.
- PLAN BOIS: 450 m ascent, accessible from age 13.
Ascent => From the top of the Télébufette gondola to the top of the Plan-Bois chairlift.
Descent => From the top of the Plan-Bois chairlift to the top of the Télébufette gondola. Descent on marked blue run.
This course is essentially reserved for non-licensed skiers (except for licensees born between 2007 and 2010, whose age does not allow them to compete on the grand course).
- Duo course (ARPETTE ONLY): 1,000 meters of ascent, to be completed by two people.
Ascent => From the top of the Télébufette gondola to the summit of the Crête de la Tête des Arpettes. Rephoetize to climb Dos Rond.
Descent => From the summit of Dos Rond to the top of the Télébufette gondola. Off-piste descent on marked itinerary.
Please note: both competitors in the duo must cross the finish line together.
Competitors in all 3 events will take the same start at 9:00 am. Athletes are invited to the Salle Pignard des Coches on Saturday March 21 from 7.30 a.m. for the race number distribution and briefing.
Registration closes at 8.00am.
A morning snack and lunch are included in the registration fee.
- Time barrier (all courses): climb to Plan Bois in 1h30, Colu 2h30, sommet de l'Arpette 3h30, Col de l'Arpette 4h30.
Safety :
The practice of ski touring can present risks for candidates if they do not respect the following safety rules:
- Helmets must be worn when descending (climbing helmets are permitted).
- Wearing a DVA pack + shovel + probe + whistle + survival blanket is compulsory (equipment will be checked before the start of the race). No runner will be allowed to start the race if this requirement is not met. Equipment can be loaned on site, subject to availability in the test park. (Arpette & Saint Jacques courses only)
- You are required to fill in the health form authorizing you to ski touring, as well as a certificate of personal insurance covering this activity.
if you do not hold a FFME/CAF license (also required).
The organizers reserve the right to cancel or modify the race in the event of force majeure, and to refuse entries in the interests of safety. The number of participants is limited to 200.
WARNING: it seems dangerous to enter this competition if you've never done ski touring before.
