In La Plagne Montchavin-Les Coches, everything is in place to offer families a peaceful, fun-filled holiday full of new experiences. As a family, take on the challenges of the Family Race on its fun-filled course in the warmer months, then enjoy its winter counterpart, the Winter Family Race, to extend the experience in the snow.
Throughout the year, the village also keeps its traditions and living heritage alive. Come and discover the authenticity of festivals from days gone by during the feast of Saint Agathe, the village’s patron saint, or witness the blessing of the ski instructors, an iconic moment in mountain life.

In winter, discover the mountains in a different way. Embark on a dog-sled ride, carried along by the energy of the pack and the silence of the snow-covered landscapes, for a timeless experience. For a gentler immersion, snowshoe trails – whether guided or on your own – reveal a peaceful and unspoilt winter landscape.
The more adventurous can try their hand at ski touring, a superb way to gain altitude and discover exceptional panoramic views along the mountains’ wild trails. Whether on cross-country skis or simply on foot, let yourself be enchanted by the Plan Bois plateau, heading towards Plagne Bellecôte, particularly along the Frasses trail.
When the fine weather returns, the mountains take on a new character and invite you to enjoy fresh adventures. As you wander the trails, discover the Lac des Pierres Blanches or let yourself be charmed by the Vallée des Bauches, with its remarkably well-preserved alpine chalets and its stream, whose gentle murmur accompanies your walk.

At the end of the 1960s, when all the locals were moving away from the hamlet of Montchavin, Auguste Mudry, mayor of the commune of Bellentre (1947 - 1973), decided to transform the village into a ski resort. Architect Michel Bezançon and designer/developer Guy Champ were mandated to create the new residences. The village centre and its retail areas were renovated. The new buildings were constructed in traditional Savoyard style using wood and stone. The first apartments were sold in 1973.
Ten years later, the site of Les Coches was developed, with Bezançon agency once again in charge of the greenfield development. In 1981, the first building, Residence La Clef, was inaugurated at the resort’s opening.
