Champagny-en-Vanoise invites you to discover Films d’en Haut – The Last SUMMIT, an immersive film following Sophie Lavaud in her conquest of the formidable Nanga Parbat, a journey of courage and extreme altitude.
Sophie Lavaud – The Last Summit

Her name is Sophie Lavaud. She wants to make her mark in the history of Himalayan climbing. Yet she is not a professional mountaineer and does not claim to be an elite performer. There are 14 of them: fourteen peaks over 8,000 meters, the giants of the Himalayas, a world of rarefied oxygen where no human can survive more than a few hours. Sophie Lavaud has climbed thirteen of the world’s highest mountains. She is now just one summit away from completing the Himalayan grand slam.

In the spring of 2023, she packs her gear for the formidable Nanga Parbat, rising 8,126 meters above the desert lands of northern Pakistan. With her high-altitude companion, the Nepali Sangay Sherpa, we follow her ascent of the awe-inspiring “Killer Mountain,” as the first climbers attempting it named it, due to its steep icy slopes, towering walls, and extremely challenging climb.

An immersive film capturing the strange reality of extreme altitude, exploring the delicate balance between absolute daring and the instinct to survive.
