Baptiste, a talented impersonator, is unable to make a living from his art. One day, he is approached by Pierre Chozène, a famous but discreet novelist, constantly disturbed by incessant calls from his publisher, his daughter, his ex-wife... Pierre, who needs some peace and quiet to write his most ambitious text, offers Baptiste the chance to become his “answering machine” by pretending to be him on the phone... Little by little, Baptiste does more than just imitate the writer: he develops his own persona!
