Vacation Villages and Clubs: The Kings of Entertainment and Fun
Do you see vacations as a time for meeting new people and sharing experiences? You’ll love the friendly atmosphere at vacation clubs and resorts! In no time at all, kids make friends for the week; solo travelers meet other mountain enthusiasts eager to improve their skills or try new activities; and groups of friends meet up with other groups of friends for even more lively dinner parties…
The activity leaders at vacation clubs and resorts draw on a wealth of creativity to entertain the kids and build connections among vacationers—whether for a week or a lifetime.
Of course, the more shy among you might be tempted to skip the weekly activities… but you’d be missing out on wonderful encounters and stories to share when you get back to the office! Are you one of those more introverted types? Check out the weekly activity schedule as soon as you arrive, and let your curiosity get the better of you—give a game night or dance party a try.
VVF, Miléade, MMV, Club Med, UCPA… How do you choose the right mountain vacation village?
La Plagne is home to about ten vacation clubs and resorts, each with its own unique character. Here are a few factors to compare to help you choose the right accommodation:
- Location: Do you prefer the village atmosphere of Montalbert or Montchavin-les-Coches? Or the bustling energy of high-altitude resorts like Plagne Centre? Keep in mind that you’ll have easy access to the ski lifts in the La Plagne ski area and the connected Paradiski ski area, no matter which resort you choose.
- The “club” vibe: Each vacation village has its own unique character. VVF vacation villages, for example, are known for their affordable rates and family-friendly atmosphere, while UCPA will appeal to sports enthusiasts looking for an active vacation. What are you looking for in your mountain getaway?
- Type of accommodation: Would you prefer to spend your ski vacation in a fully equipped apartment (with a kitchen) or in a hotel room? What level of comfort are you looking for? Three stars? Four stars?
- Ski services: Do you need to rent equipment or book ski lessons? If so, you’ll likely prefer a vacation village with an on-site sports shop and a ski and snowboard lesson departure point near the residence.
- Kids’ services: Areyou traveling with your family? Do you prefer to spend as much time as possible with your little ones, or do you need childcare on certain days of the week? Some vacation villages offer daycare services, activities for kids and teens, and a game room…
- Dining: Do you prefer to eat all your meals “at home”? Or are you a fan of hearty hotel breakfasts and restaurants that let you skip cooking and just sit down to eat? Some vacation resorts offer half-board, full-board, or all-inclusive packages, which are convenient for taking the stress out of meal planning.
- Activities: Do you plan to ski all week? Or would you like to join in on activities organized by the club’s activity leaders with other vacationers?
- Wellness area: essential or unnecessary?

But wait… who is eligible to book a VVF vacation?
The acronym VVF is misleading: while it stands for “Villages Vacances Familles” (Family Vacation Villages), it’s not actually reserved solely for families with children. The VVF association, founded in 1958, originally aimed to promote access to quality vacations for all families, while contributing to the development of rural areas through tourism. But today, anyone can book summer or winter vacations at a VVF vacation village: families with children, of course, but also groups of adults, couples, solo travelers, and more. For example, the Club Montalbert La Plagne welcomes you to its 93 rooms accommodating 2 to 6 people, while the VVF Plagne 1800 Vacation Residence features 42 apartments for 4 to 9 people, and the VVF La Plagne Montchavin Paradiski residence has 100 apartments for 4 to 8 people.
You also don’t need to provide any proof of eligibility when booking your vacation at a VVF resort (you’ll never be asked whether you receive financial assistance, for example). VVF rates are affordable for everyone, both in summer and winter, and additional promotional codes are regularly posted on the VVF website (for Easter vacations, etc.).
How do you book your VVF vacation?
The simplest and most economical way is to book your vacation directly on the official VVF website ( Club Montalbert, VVF Plagne 1800 Residence, or VVF Montchavin Residence). Please note that you do not need to provide any documentation when choosing your vacation rental (no family register, no proof of income or financial assistance, etc.).
Here’s a good tip if you’re flexible with your travel dates: Compare rates across different time periods. Ski vacations are typically more expensive during the Christmas and winter breaks, and more affordable in January, March, and April (as well as in the summer).
Payment methods accepted on the VVF website include: credit cards and bank transfers, of course, but also ANCV vacation checks in paper or Connect format (you can pay for all or part of your stay with vacation checks), gift cards and checks, or in three or four interest-free installments with Oney Bank.
