The Super Tyro: a 600-meter zip line for maximum thrills in minimum time (summer and winter)

It’s quite simply THE longest zip line in La Plagne—and one of the longest in Savoie! The Super Tyro, which connects Aime 2000 to Plagne Centre, lets you soar over Lac Vert in both winter and summer, with breathtaking views of the Italian side of Mont Blanc. So keep your eyes wide open to make sure you don’t miss a thing—because it’s going to go fast. Very fast, in fact. It takes about thirty seconds in total to zip down the 600-meter cable (at a top speed of nearly 90 km/h!).

In winter, when the days grow short, the Super Tyro zipline offers a particularly striking spectacle at sunset and then after dark: Plagne Centre all lit up, promising a well-deserved, comforting hot chocolate to help you recover from the thrill (and restore your cheeks—rosy from the cold—to their original color).

While the Super Tyro is impressive, it’s still accessible to everyone (including children weighing at least 20 kg) and requires no special skills. You can trust the staff with your eyes closed: these specialists in high-altitude activities are used to reassuring the most anxious (and teasing the most daring).

Good to know: In winter, you can ride the Super Tyro zipline with your ski boots on and your skis strapped to your back! That way, you can continue your day on the slopes with your heart still racing…

The Giant Zip Line Trio (winter): a winning trio spanning 400 m of cables

Located in Belle Plagne, the Giant Zip Line Trio is the winter version of the Zip Line Cascade described below. In total, no less than 400 m of cables have been securely anchored on either side of a canyon and its frozen stream. Perched high above (25 to 40 m, no less), you’ll glide over them three times after dark (or as night falls, depending on the time of year) amid the magical setting of snow-covered evergreen trees.

The Giant Zip Line (summer): A 115-meter descent… accessible to children as young as 3!

There’s no age limit on experiencing the ultimate thrill! Proof of this is the Giant Zip Line in Belle Plagne, a 115-meter-long zip line accessible even to little ones as young as 3 years old! Adrenaline junkies need not worry, though: perched 25 m above the Ours Canyon and its stream, the activity is just as thrilling for adults. It’s perfect for pushing your limits as a family, or simply to get a taste of what it’s like to zip down a “long but not too long” cable before moving on to a more challenging experience (the Zipline Cascade, the Super Tyro…).

The Zipline Cascade (summer): 1.5 hours of exploration among the trees

When you love zip-lining, you don’t count your runs! Why settle for just one ride… when you can do 10 in a row? Here are some key figures about the Belle Plagne Zipline Cascade: 200 m (the length of the longest of the 10 ziplines), 45 m (the maximum height at which you’ll be gliding over the stream), 2 km (the total length of cable for the 10 zip lines), 9 m (the height of the 100% safe leap into the void that awaits you at the end of the Belle Plagne Zip Line Cascade—for a spectacular finish!). Not to mention the few ladders scattered along the course. Don’t rush: it’ll take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the lowest point of the course (depending on how busy it is and your agility).

Adventure Courses (summer): for those who love zip lines, as well as rope bridges, nets, and footbridges…

In La Plagne, the peaks aren’t just explored via zip lines. Do you enjoy scrambling through the trees but prefer a variety of fun challenges? Opt for an adventure course ( a more accurate term than “tree-top adventure,” which is often used to describe the activity) in Belle Plagne or Champagny-en-Vanoise.

In Belle Plagne, the adventure park features 5 courses (and a total of three zip lines):

  • A junior course for children ages 4 to 7;
  • Three courses ranging from green (easy) to red (difficult), accessible to children ages 8 and up;
  • A black-level (very difficult) course for seasoned climbers ages 12 and up.

The easiest course is designed to help everyone get comfortable using the equipment at a low height (for example: how to properly clip carabiners to move safely along the cables). The difficulty level then increases gradually: the courses climb higher and become more technical and physically demanding. As a result, it will take you a good twenty minutes to complete the most difficult course, which rises up to 22 meters above the ground!

In Champagny-en-Vanoise, two adventure courses have been set up in the trees: a short course for children ages 5 and up, and a long course for climbers ages 12 and up.

What should you bring for your zip-line ride?

In both winter and summer, the staff provides you with all the equipment needed for a safe zip-line ride: a harness sized for your body type, a set of lanyards and carabiners, and a pulley (the key component for gliding along the cable stretched between the top and bottom points of the zipline). In summer, helmets are always provided for the Super Tyro. In winter, you can use your own ski helmet.

As for the rest: dress comfortably and appropriately for the season. Ski gear is ideal in winter, while athletic wear and closed-toe sneakers are perfect in summer. Don’t forget that the temperature feels colder at higher speeds (you might regret not bringing a sweater if the weather is a bit chilly).

In winter: bring gloves ( no mittens), as well as sunglasses or your ski goggles ( to protect yourself from the sun’s rays and the wind).

In summer, too, gloves are required to protect your hands on most courses (zip lines and adventure courses). And sunglasses are recommended so you can enjoy the view without your eyes watering.
