This difficult but "rolling" course is ideal for working on your technique, especially downhill. You also get a magnificent view of the Vanoise glaciers.
A challenging alternative: Instead of taking the cable car, more hardened trail runners might prefer to climb from Champagny to the starting point (described later on). This lengthens the the route to 17.5 km, with 1,180 m of positive and negative elevation.

Starting at the top of the cable car (find out about fares, opening days and times from the tourist office), you go up the trail to the foot of the ski lift. From there continue straight ahead, taking a traverse path that joins the Levasset trail, which you then follow to Chalet des Verdons Sud. The route now follows a well-marked traverse path up to Porcière, from where it descends through meadows and forests to la Duy. Finally, travel straight along the paved trail to the hamlet of Ravière where you'll find a path to bring you back to Champagny.
