Tyrolean traverse: the most accessible of sensational activities
Just imagine: an acrobatic high wire course professional equips you with a harness, which in turn is attached to a pulley that he or she will help you secure on a thick cable stretched between a starting platform and a finishing platform below. Ready to launch? All you have to do is lift your feet off the ground... and let yourself slide for 10, 20, 30 seconds without worrying about anything! How easy is that?
Zip-lining is one of the most accessible of all sensational activities: no jumping into the void, no sensation of falling (unlike canyoning, for example, which requires a little more commitment), permanent contact with a taut cable (perfect for those who don't like activities that are too far from the ground, like paragliding), and no particular technical skills required (unlike climbing, for example). The proof: in La Plagne, zip-lining can be done from the age of 3 on the Tyrolienne Géante de Belle Plagne!
In La Plagne, you can zip-line in summer as well as in winter
Did you think zip-lining could only be done in summer? Think again! In winter too, you can soar through snow-covered trees.
At Belle Plagne, the Trio de Tyroliennes Géantes (a series of three zip lines, accessible from age 12) is open from December to April, as is the Super Ty rolean traverse at Aime 2000 (600 m long; from 20 kg).
Super Tyro
In July and August, the snow gives way to a greater diversity of courses. The famous Super Tyro, with its 600 m of cable, remains open all summer long at Aime 2000, while new zip-line descents become available at Belle Plagne (the Cascade de Tyroliennes, with its 10 zip-lines that take around 1h30 to link up, and the 115 m-long Tyrolienne Géante, for families aged 3 and over).
Tyrolean traverse courses for all levels of experience
Tyrolean traverse requires no special technical skills, just a little commitment to daring to leap into the void.
Are you new to zip-lining? Prefer to take it gradually? In winter and summer alike, you'll find courses of varying lengths and with varying degrees of airiness to build your confidence and gradually get your adrenalin flowing.
In winter, for example, you can start with the Trio de Tyroliennes Géantes at Belle Plagne to test out the sensations of zip-lining down 400 m of cable in three sections. Then get down to serious business on the 600 m of cable on the Aime 2000 Super Tyro (to be descended in a single run!).
In summer, it's even possible to reassure yourself on the small zip lines of the Belle Plagne and Champagny-en-Vanoise adventure courses , before taking on bigger and bigger challenges: the Tyrolienne Géante(115 m long) and the Cascade de Tyroliennes de Belle Plagne (10 zip lines in a row), and finally the famous Super Tyro d'Aime 2000 and its 600 m of cable (yes, singular!).
Feeling like a hothead? Would you like to try out the Super Tyro straight away, without ever having tried zip-lining before? It's possible!
Whichever route you choose, you'll be equipped with a harness, lanyards, karabiners and a pulley. The supervisory staff, all CQP OPAH (Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle, Opérateur de Parcours Acrobatiques en Hauteur) qualified instructors, will be on hand to reassure you, give you instructions and check that all the lights are green so you can take off in complete safety.
Children aged 3 and over also have the right to a zip-line descent!
Are your little ones up to the challenge? Share a zip-line descent with them! And not a "baby" zip-line. No, it's not. A real 115 m-long zip line, suspended 25 m above the ground, for a thrilling ride for the whole family (parents included).
The meeting point is Belle Plagne, where an instructor specializing in high ropes courses is ready to equip all participants (children aged 3 and over, teenagers and adults). 115 m further on, a second supervisor is waiting for you at the finish line to take you down safely... and show you how to get to the top of the zip line for your second run!
The Giant Tyrolean traverse? An accessible and affordable summer activity that will make daring young children (and their parents...) proud.
Super Tyro and Giant Tyrolean traverse: for tyrolean monomaniacs
Do you love zip-lining? Are you bored (or too tired) of the other workshops traditionally found on adventure courses? Would you like to try out a thrilling activity during your vacations... but prefer something quick so as not to eat into your winter skiing or summer hiking schedule? We've got just what you're looking for!
In winter: you'll love the Super Tyro at Aime 2000 (600 m of hurtling downhill in one go, for an express version of thrills) and the Trio de Tyroliennes Géantes at Belle Plagne (400 m of cables in total to explore in cascades).
In summer: the 600 m descent of the Super Tyro d'Aime 2000 is still there, as is the Tyrolienne Géante de Belle Plagne (115 m long, a great thrill for children aged 3 and over), or the nearby Cascade de Tyroliennes (a dozen zip lines in all, as well as a number of ladders and a 100%-safe 9 m high jump).
Adventure courses (summer): explore the peaks in all their glory (zip lines, monkey bridges, slides, nets...).
You love zip-lining... but you're afraid you'll be left wanting more if you don't add a few more sporty aerial acrobatics to your speedy descent? Opt for a more complete program with the Belle Plagne and Champagny-en-Vanoise adventure courses, open in summer. This is your chance to do a bit of zip-lining, as well as a host of other workshops perched in the trees (monkey bridges, nets, Tarzan's liana...).
In Champagny-en-Vanoise, two courses have been set up by the Bureau des Guides: a small course for 5-12 year-olds, and a large course for 12 year-olds and over.
At Belle Plagne, the discovery of accrobranche is even more gradual, with 5 courses (including three with zip lines): a mini discovery course for children aged 4 to 7, then four other courses of green (easy), blue (initiated), red (difficult) and black (sporty) levels for children aged 8 and over (12 for the black course) and adults. The higher the level, the tougher the workshops get: higher (from 2.5 m to 25 m!), more physical (your arms could be aching the next day...), more impressive (the black course will take you across the highest Tibetan bridge in the Tarentaise region!) Don't panic though: you'll need to validate each level before moving on to the next (it's impossible to overestimate your level by mistake).
Zip-lining: an easy activity to fit into your vacation schedule
Overflowing with activities? Don't give up on that itchy zip-line descent! Book a slot on the Super Tyro, a 600 m-long zip line (the longest in La Plagne) that you can hurtle down in 30 seconds (and at up to 90 km/h!). Ideal for hotheads in a hurry, winter or summer.
Time to spare? Treat yourself in winter to the Trio de Tyroliennes de Belle Plagne, and in summer to the Cascade de Tyroliennes de Belle Plagne as well (a total of ten Tyroliennes, which will easily keep you busy for an hour to an hour and a half).
Belle Plagne, Aime 2000 and Champagny-en-Vanoise: three very different places to go zip-lining on your Savoie vacation
In Aime 2000, you can go zip-lining in winter and summer thanks to the Super Tyro (the longest zip line in La Plagne: 600 m long!). The "landing" is at Plagne Centre, and getting back to the starting point is child's play thanks to the Télémétro (free).
In Belle Plagne, the zip line changes face with the seasons. In winter, the Trio de Tyroliennes Géantes awaits you (400 m of cable in all). In summer, you can choose between the Tyrolienne Géante (115 m long, 25 m high, accessible even to toddlers aged 3 and over), the Cascade de Tyroliennes (10 tyroliennes that link up until the final 100%-safe jump) or the Parcours Aventure for all levels (to vary the pleasures and have fun in the trees on a greater variety of workshops).
At Champagny-en-Vanoise, zip-lining is part of an integrated adventure course (2 levels: small course and large course) open in July and August.
