Do you speak Enduro?
One of La Plagne’s many assets is its varied terrain, with forests and Alpine meadows, going from the mountain peaks right down to the valley. The resort offers 21 itineraries with over 300 km of marked trails. The Enduro trails mostly follow natural paths which are all marked out on a trail map. Just like the ski slopes in the winter, the circuits are colour-coded: blue for an easy ride, red for more experienced riders and black for those who want to give it their all!
The Big Descent
La Plagne has a surprise in store for downhill enthusiasts: the ‘Dré Val’ trail that descends 1100 m! Starting from Plagne Bellecôte at 1923 m altitude, it goes right down to the valley, ending up at the Versants d’Aime leisure park. Don’t forget your swimming things, you can make good use of them when you get there… There’s a bus service to take you back up from the lake to the altitude villages (3€ one way – 5€ return), phew!
Here are a few recommendations for really making the most of your bike ride: -You must wear a helmet and protections -Adapt your speed and riding to the terrain -Before you leave, check the weather forecast and conditions -Take warm clothing and a rain jacket -Make sure you have something to eat and drink -If you have an accident, let the MTB patrollers or the emergency services know (tel. 112) Don’t forget you are in a natural environment. That means you have to stay on the marked trails, take your rubbish with you and be discreet so you don’t disturb the local wildlife. Some trails are shared, so please respect others using them. Pedestrians always have priority. This is the attitude that will make you a real mountain biker!
The Enduro trails have specific marking on a coloured background. The colour represents the level of the trail (blue, red, black), you will also see the trail name and number and an arrow showing the direction to take. There are shops offering quality bike rental located in each of the villages. Don’t hesitate to ask them for advice, they are La Plagne experts! You can also buy a day lift pass for La Plagne (15€ / day) or Paradiski (35€ / day), on sale from the tourist offices.
