Come and visit the Archaeological Museum of Aime!
In July and August, the musem is open to visitors.
Standing on Saint Sigismond's hill, the Archaeological Museum, in Aime's former main church, is a Musée de France. Pierre Borrione, its founder, patron, doctor and mayor of Aime was passionate about preserving the many relics from the past of his town and the valley on site. In the town centre, the parish church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin was built between 1675 and 1678. It has all the hallmarks of Baroque art, the principles of which were a consequence of the Counter-Reformation and the Council of Trent.
From the Neolithic to the modern era: prehistoric tools, funerary furniture, Gallo-Roman architecture, jewelry, ceramics and coins testify to the first human occupations in Tarentaise. These objects trace the history of Aime, city of the Gallic people "the Ceutrons" then in 21 BC capital of the Roman province of the "Gray Alps".
PERMANENT EXHIBITION 03/07 to 30/08
Temporary exhibitions on the themes of history and archaeology.
