The interior can be seen through a grid. The exact date of the foundation of Villaroland chapel is unknown. Edmond Brocard places it at the end of the 12th century, Abbot Gontharet in the 14th century.
The exact date of the foundation of Villaroland chapel is unknown. Edmond Brocard places it at the end of the 12th century, Abbot Gontharet in the 14th century. It certainly has the characteristic architectural elements of Romanesque art: a single nave with a broken barrel vault and an apse with a barrel vault like the chapel of Saint Pierre d'Extravache or the chapel of l'Ecot near Bonneval-sur-Arc in the Maurienne. However, these elements do not allow us to pinpoint a specific date. In the absence of a precise date which would allow us to qualify it as a "Romanesque chapel", we will simply state that it is in the "Romanesque tradition".
