Marie, aged 80, is fed up with her illness. She has a plan: to go to Switzerland to end her life. But when she tells Bruno, her irresponsible son, and Anna, her teenage granddaughter, she panics and makes up a huge lie. Using a mysterious inheritance in a Swiss bank as an excuse, she suggests that they take a trip together. An unwitting accomplice in this masquerade, Rudy, a carer he has just met, gets behind the wheel of the family's old camper van and takes the family on an unexpected journey.
