La Plagne is committing to an ambitious goal: zero uncontrolled waste on the mountain by 2030! HOW CAN YOU HELP? To make your contribution, come along on June 10th.
Garbage collection, program & departures
To prepare for the summer season, La Plagne is inviting you to take part in its Spring Cleanup!
Because the mountains are the starting point of the water cycle, polluting the mountains has a major impact on the whole chain.
Did you know? 80% of marine waste originates on land (source: NGO Surfriders).
Our aim? To take care of our mountains, to better understand them so we can take action to reduce waste at source.
---------------------------------------------
Please note: to take advantage of the free lunch, you must register before Wednesday, May 27.
---------------------------------------------
Program:
-8:30 am: Reception in one of our sites
-9:00 am: Departure for waste collection
-From 11:00: End of collection & return to your starting point
-11 a.m. > 2 p.m.: Giant Carac': waste characterization (sorting, weighing)
-From 12:30 pm: Meal offered to participants at your departure point
-----------------------------------------------
📌 MEETING POINTS
Plagne Centre: salle hors sac
Montchavin - Les Coches: in front of Les Coches Tourist Office
Montalbert: in front of the Maison du Tourisme
Champagny-en-Vanoise: in front of the Tourist Office
🔎 WHAT IS CARAC'?
Characterization enables a detailed analysis of the waste collected: total weight, weight by typology (plastic, wood, textile, cardboard, metal, glass, rubber, other), monitoring of indicator waste (specific to tourist reception, specific to professional activity in the area, etc.). Thanks to this, we'll have a precise assessment enabling us to work on an action plan to reduce waste at source.
In practice: a scale and a large tarpaulin allow us to characterize the waste collected, in a joyful and good-humored way!
💡 PRACTICAL INFO
→ Be sure to bring a water bottle, thick gloves, and bags (such as shopping bags) to participate.
We recommend wearing appropriate clothing and footwear: sneakers, hiking boots, a fleece jacket, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
For lunch, don’t forget to bring your own container and utensils to help reduce waste even further!
