Behold the splendours of the Vanoise Park walking on this trail leading you through the Plaisance valley up to Plan Séry via the refuge.
Starting point: Champagny Le Haut, carpark Le Laisonnay d'en bas
Arrival: idem
Duration: 3:30 hrs outward
Warning: you can hike with your dog up to the Plaisance refuge. At the refuge, you enter the Vanoise Park. Dogs are therefore not allowed from this point up to the Plan Séry pass, even if you keep him on a leash.

From the Laisonnay carpark (Information office open in the summer), walk 300 m along the tarred road; after the bridge, turn left, then left again (sign). Take the path heading up to the Plaisance refuge; the one climbs up and weaves, at the edge of the amazing Py waterfall.

After 45 min, the path gets across a small steep passage to the left. It goes up along the Mollard small valley through scree slopes to get to the stream that runs alongside it. A short steep passage then enables you to enter the Plaisance small valley; the slope becomes gentler. We cross the stream close to a hunting hut "les caves" (alt. 2050 m); the path gently climbs up the valley up to the Plaisance refuge, which is composed of two chalets with pointed roofs, a typical architecture in the refuges of the Vanoise Park (alt. 2170 m).

To get to the Plan Séry pass: behind the refuge, the path crosses a footbridge over the Py stream, it climbs up above a rocky bar (sign entrance to the Park) and heads back in the grassy slopes to reach the Plan Séry. This vast expanse of humid alpine meadows is the only way to get to the Plan Séry pass (alt. 2609 m. The pass enables you to pass over to the Peisey valley by the refuge called "Entre-le-Lac", about an hour's walk away.

Return: by the same route.

To get to the Plaisance refuge, it will take about 2 hours for a 600-meter-drop (blue level: moderately difficult; hike from 5 years old).
Possibility of overnight stay + breakfast (beverages, canned & starchy food, dried vegetables - local organic and fair trade products). On reservation - tel +33 9 72 16 73 01 / +33 6 49 92 82 11 or website refuge-plaisance.vanoise.com/).
