For the descent, 2 options:
Option 1 - Return by the same route. Walking time: 2 hours 15 minutes.

Another possibility of itinerary: go up by gondola if open and then walk to Chalet Les Verdons Sud. Then follow the direction of the Mont de la Guerre and the Chapelle du Bozelet. Distance: 6 km - positive difference in altitude: 520 m.
Descent: option 1 or 2 above.
0/ Car park of the cable car (alt. 1250m)
From the gondola car park, take the track leading to the hamlet of La Traye.

1/ At the top of the small ski lift, leave this track to take a path on the left (sign). This path then rises (to the right) in the forest and joins, in a few hairpin bends, the houses of Combes d'en Bas (alt. 1470 m); join the carriage road and take it to reach Combes d'en Haut (alt. 1570 m). Continue on this track which returns to the left.

2/ Leave it to take an ascending path through the meadows.

3/ Further up, turn right at the crossroads (alt. 1850m) and continue along this path on the edge of the forest and then in the mountain pastures. It goes up a wide open valley and then a grassy slope to reach a flat area below the summit of Mont de la Guerre (alt. 2150m). Continue on a fairly well marked track.

4/ After a bend to the left (from here you can reach the summit of Mont de la Guerre on the left by the ridge - 15min) continue on this track still crossing. We follow the ridge and by a last grassy slope, reach the Chapelle du Bozelet (alt. 2276m).

For the descent, 2 options:
Option 1 - Return by the same route. Walking time: 2 hours 15 minutes.
Option 2 - Return to the gondola via Chalet Les Verdons Sud - then back down by gondola. Distance: 6km, altitude difference +: 203m, altitude difference -: 520m, walking time: 2h15.
From the summit, retrace your steps to the altitude of 2050m.

5/ From there, take a wide, well-marked path to go up slightly (North-East); this path allows you to go down to the "Chalet Les Verdons Sud".

6/ After the chalet, take the road on the right (east), then a path slightly uphill in the rhododendrons (mountain bike markings) which leads to the upper station of the Champagny cable car.

Alternatively, take the gondola if it is open and then walk to Chalet Les Verdons Sud. Then follow the direction of Mont de la Guerre and the Chapelle du Bozelet. Distance: 6 km - positive difference in altitude: 520 m.
Descent: option 1 or 2 above.
